Human Trafficking in the 21st century by: Edime Jane Ugbedeojo

We have stories of people coming to the remote villages to take our young girls promising them a good a better future not knowing that they are victims of human trafficking. They are exposed to several kinds of sexually transmitted diseases some even die in the process. People traffick our girls for their own selfish interest. what is human trafficking?
Human trafficking is the trade of humans for the purpose of forced labour, sexual slavery or commercial sexual exploitation for the trafficker or other. It involves forced marriage a situation whereby a lady is forced to marry a forced spouse against her . Human trafficking is a criminal
act and perpetrators of this crime need to be punished it is infringing on someone's right to movement because the victims are taken away out of their will. Women and children are the most vulnerable to human trafficking.
Human trafficking has serious impacts on its victims as it affects them psychologically, physically and mentally . They are traumatized and stigmatized.
TYPES OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING
SEX TRAFFICKING
This a case whereby people are forced into commercial sex acts . The women and children are the most vulnerable to this type of human trafficking. Victims of this are forced to perform duties like hotel services, prostitution, strip club dancing and so on.
FORCED LABOUR
Also known as involuntary servitude. It is a situation whereby someone is forced to work against his will . The happens mostly to men.
DEBT BONDAGE
It is forcing someone to do a job to pay a debt. In most cases the victim is unable to pay the debt.
WAYS OF COMBATING HUMAN TRAFFICKING
RAISING PUBLIC AWARENESS
The public should be enlightened on the implications of human trafficking to dissuad potential traffickers. People should be told the tricks of the traffickers so that people don't end up as victims of human trafficking.
EMPOWER STRATEGIC INDUSTRIES
The government should empower industries and create employment opportunities so that people don't take human trafficking as a profession . If people are employed they won't traffic humans and they won't end up as victims.
Look beyond traditional law enforcement.
Develop a coordinated transnational response.
Human trafficking is inhuman, people must desist from it . Why should you enslave your fellow human beings for your own selfish interest?
